The Black Sabbath Bridge over the Birmingham canal is a tribute attraction to celebrate the Birmingham metal band, Black Sabbath. I have depicted all the different textures and colours this interesting section of the Birmingham city centre canal offers.
Primarily I work with acrylic paint and ink, collage and mixed media. The acrylics are applied with rollers, pieces of shaped wood, card and any found materials. Collage materials comprise of torn or shaped tissue paper, newsprint, and magazine illustrations. Details are then added with acrylic paint and ink, oil and chalk pastels, pen and ink. I have published a book illustrating my work entitled “Painting Without Brushes” which sums up my style of painting.
