This acrylic painting on unstretched canvas depicts a young black man at the beach (Diamond Head Beach on Oahu, in Hawaii, in this case), wearing a pair of low-hanging boardshorts with a flowered pattern. The brushwork is loose and the use of color is more complex than it may first appear, using cool vs. warm values to capture the way sunlight plays on dark skin.

The painting is on unstretched canvas and image area measures approximately 20x29 in. / 50x73 cm.
