Black water symbolizes deep reflections and the subconscious, a manually burned frame - the destructive effect of the fire of emotions, if they are not lived to the end. The lighthouse is hope. The combination of opposite elements means the unity and wholeness of the personality, to which the author aspires.

The charcoal frame is covered with yacht varnish. Valeria also used gold leaf for this painting.
