Only recently, when I was looking through hard copy photos of my travels in the 1980,s and 90's,did I come across some wildlife photos that I had taken in Alaska. I was on a 6 month ,12,000 mile cycling expedition.I had set off from San Francisco and was heading back south from Denali national park, via Skagway. In the harbour were black headed gulls elegantly picking scraps from the surface of the sea,on which this painting is based. At the time I never imagined that I would one day be a professional wildlife artist and that this Gull would make a great subject for a painting.
Acrylic paint on 350grm heavyweight water colour paper.
