Out of the night
This is where monochrome linocuts come into their own. That time of night and season of the year when the eye can no longer fully distinguish where one thing ends and another begins, only the outline of the scene as a whole. The mind interprets what its seeing into constituent parts before you have tie to think about it but you’re still let with the wonderfully eerie impression of, in this instance, the animal coming out of and part of the blackness. There is no foreground or background here, perspective is created in the mind of the viewer.
