Artwork description:

Limited edition photographic print of the disused pier at Birnbeck (nr Weston-Super-Mare), UK.
A dramatic seaside piece that would make a great focal point in any room and the ideal gift for those who love to feel the salt wind in their hair.

I took this shot on a very 'changeable' day in September whilst doing a whistle stop tour of the Somerset coast. This is Birnbeck Pier, the only pier in the UK which links the mainland to an island - Birnbeck Island. Originally opened in 1867 as a boarding point for steamers plying their trade in the Bristol Channel, it's still home to the Weston-super-Mare Lifeboat Station. Sadly, the pier has been closed to the public since 1994 and is now largely derelict, despite being grade II listed and on the Buildings at Risk Register.
This is a single exposure image taken with neutral density filter to increase exposure time which smooths out the sea and sky, with a touch of processing in Photoshop to increase contrast to bring out the drama.

This is a run of limited edition prints numbering 150. The print is numbered, titled and signed on the reverse and care notes are included to help you make the most of your purchase. See additional photos for examples.
