Throughout the series of bird paintings has been to choose and use color either intuitively or literally based on direct observations during different times of the year.
My painting technique starts with a layer built with plaster or modeling paste. Acrylic washes are dabbed or poured onto the wet plaster/paste. When the surface is dried I manipulate it by sanding and scratching. More layers are added by repeating this process. The final layer is defining shapes referencing birds and nature.
