Artwork description:

I have had an interest and love of birds for as long as I can remember. I used to watch the little blue-tits breaking the foil at the top of the milk bottles with their beaks and drink the cream. In those cold North Yorkshire winters the cream settling at the top of those bottles of milk left at the front doors of everyones houses, would help the birds to survive the cold northern temperatures. Also, all sorts of birds would feed from the bird table in the front garden, and find snails and worms in the soft undergrowth and grass.
This is quite a simple linocut, but I feel the background with its contrasting colour and design, help to give a feeling of movement to the otherwise very still image of the bird and alliums.
