Original Ink Brush Drawing by Josephine Window. Abstract Layered Figure Drawing. Abstract Expressionism, Gestural.
Description: I take lines, movements and shapes from the life model. I build an abstract layered figure composition with these elements.
I love to work quickly to music, because this promotes freedom and spontaneity in my expression.
The bird is a Spangled Drongo. It has glossy black plumage, a forked tail and red eyes. This striking looking bird is special to me because it comes to the rainforest near our house and sings its melody. When I mimic its musical tune (whistling as best I can), it sings back to me. What a charming creature!
I like to use linear techniques and patches of colours for my ink drawings. The movement of these lines is organic in feeling.
Influences: woman, song, bird, the body, dance, music, dynamism, spontaneity, drama.
Drawn from the life model at a Friday morning Dynamic Drawing session, Byron Bay Australia.
This artwork has been stored since 2011 and finished in my studio this year.
