This is a monoprint made over the weekend. In the first step, I rolled out a background then, I drew guidelines on the back of another plate, turned it over and painted the bird and the tree branch with the ink using a brush, then printed it on top of the already-printed background.
This is similar to another print and here's why:The print shown with the background that has a more angular background and the green on the bottom --the background is a "ghost image," meaning that the printed image is actually the second printing from the plate--using only the residual ink. The bird, however, is the primary printing--meaning, it was the first printing after I painted the plate.
On this print variation, though, it is the opposite. I created a new background and then printed a ghost image of the bird on top of it.
This is on archival paper with archival ink and will be mailed in a tube to the buyer.
