Next in the series entitled 'Birds on Slate' where I capture scenes containing wonderful British wildlife, plants and flowers.
Every September I go blackberrying in the hedgerows - seeing those inky black fruits, gleaming in the bushes, in such abundance, is a wonderful reminder that Autumn is on the way. We always have competition though - the blue tits love the sweet little berries too! In this piece I really wanted to capture the detail in their feathers; blue tits have such lovely pastel colour plumage that is reflected perfectly in the deep indigo of the fruit.
This piece is painted on reclaimed Devon slate.
