BIRCHES (studio 9) is a shot from the 'SYKSY' project, created in the autumn of 2021 in Finland, primarily in Lapland.
The fall season in Lapland offers some of the most impressive natural spectacles on earth, from the well-known Finnish 'ruska' with its light and color contrasts to the majesty of the auroras.
In this shot, the birch trunks stretch out like a white, undulating veil among the vibrant and warm colors of the autumn Lapland forest.
With 'Syksy,' I sought to fully immerse myself in the Nordic nature precisely in one of the last unspoiled areas of the European continent, and by letting myself be guided by pure instinct, I began to 'paint' with my camera, creating a true abstract impressionist project.
In this collection, stepping away for once from the minimalist style that often characterizes my work, I decided to focus on the interaction between light and colors to create photos in constant motion.
Even the referential realism present in figurative landscape is definitively surpassed in favor of an extreme, deeply instinctive, and unpredictable subjectivism.
The final transformation of the real world into a surreal mirror.
