This landscape was painted by me at the age of 14. I was attending art school at the time, and we often ventured into the city parks for plein air painting sessions.

Nestled within the park surrounding the lake in Moldova’s capital lies a serene birch meadow. It was here that a small group of us, teenage art enthusiasts, gathered to create and learn to see beauty in everything around us. This place felt like an oasis of classical tranquillity amidst a world undergoing rapid and turbulent change.

This piece holds great personal value to me, but I’m now seeking a collector who would appreciate and connect with the essence of the 1990s, captured in this work. I firmly believe that paintings carry the imprint of their time and place, as well as the emotions of the artist, preserved on some intangible, higher level.

The artwork is in excellent condition. It was created on whatman paper—a rare and sought-after material at the time—using professional-grade paints from the "Nevskaya Palitra" brand. Back then, these materials were available only in a single store in the country or had to be ordered from Russia, costing as much as my parents’ monthly salary. I still treasure this piece, and even today, I occasionally use the remarkably well-preserved paints in my modern works.

This artwork is being offered for sale, along with another study of the same meadow, which together could make a striking diptych.
