Original artwork description:

This is an original, one off, large abstract painting on canvas ready to hang on your beautiful wall.

'Bioluminous Storm Surge VIII' belongs to my 'Aquatic' Series. It is a big artwork that allows you to come in close to experience and enjoy this painting inspired by storms, the sea, molecular and microscopic life. It is representative of my exploration into the microscopic minutiae of life with all its order & chaos and my love of water. I delve into the beautiful parallels of art with science that I have bound with my love of floaty effervescent underwater life. All the stuff that is so very real but cannot be seen with our normal everyday eyesight.

In this painting the lights and darks and subtle colours create an otherworldly tranquillity. The hues are inspired by the colours found in rock-pools and sea-life. Especially the flashes of bright colours that catch your like the pink and red in this painting.
This painting continues with my fascination in the sublime of micro-worlds, biology, all things water and sea-life. The circular organic motifs and the organic cluster patterns allude to cellular life forms, dainty aquatic-life and to the visceral otherworldliness of the building blocks of life like cells, amoeba and molecules. Sublime and beautiful yet also possessing a feeling of fragility and vulnerability.

The big. The tiny. The sea. The sea storms. The surf wash and foam. Falling rain. Water molecules. These things I think about and look at when I create these paintings. They can be viewed as minuscule cell life just as easily as floating jelly-fish swarms or an incoming storm with all the tensions and fluidity of rain.

”I feel like I am gently floating like jelly-fish” is a lovely comment I so often receive from this series.

What I enjoy most about my paintings is they make people smile with a sense of wonderment and feelings of happiness as well as creating a splash of colour and interest for years to come.
