Artwork description:

This is an original hand carved limited edition linocut.

Here the intense football rivalry of my home region is highlighted, as well as the culture of binge drinking that so often is associated with the North-East or, infact, the English in a broader sense. It's another work looking at cultural and social identity. We see a man passed out on a park bench in the top right and below that the silhouette of a face in profile, drinking from a bottle of beer, their hand clutching the neck of the bottle. A cartoon figure wearing a cap bearing the words 'I hate' appears to be urinating on the word 'Geordies'. The image is intended as a light-hearted reference to the rivalry between the Mackems and Geordies of Sunderland and Newcastle, that prevails in a footballing sense. Ironically, due to the medium and method used, the stripes on the top are black and white.

This is a limited edition linocut, printed on quality printmaking paper.

Your print will come wrapped in protective tissue paper to reach you in the best condition.

If you have any questions relating to the work before purchase please don't hesitate to ask me.
