Original artwork description:

I am inspired by the way light shapes the landscape, and I regularly visit my favorites spots along the California coast to study the changing light and to try capture the elusive moments on canvas. The Big Sur Coast is world renowned as the best of scenic drives as it follows each twist and turn of the rugged and picturesque California coast. This is the Big Sur coastline vista looking north on HWY1 towards Bixby Bridge and Carmel-by-the-sea, the breadth and atmospheric perspective of which inspired me to paint this piece.

Materials used to create this artwork:
Oil paint on Old Holland stretched linen. Old Holland canvases are made exclusively from Claessens Linen, crafted from woven natural flax from Belgium. These canvases feature Claessens revered traditional oil priming, hand-stretched on professional quality European stretchers. They are back stapled to maintain clean edges for frameless gallery presentation.

The painting is protected with a coat of Gamvar varnish.

Unframed, wired in the back on the stretcher-bars, and ready to be hung without a frame. Otherwise, it can easily be framed, if one prefers a framed presentation.

Materials used:

oil paint, stretched linen canvas, varnish
