In this painting my intention was to transmit the strangeness produced by the shiny advertisement in an empty street by night; As if the publicity where in its own dimension, separated from human purposes, elevated. My spiritual influences are the post Marxist philosophers as Jean Baudrillard, and aesthetically I’m influenced by the night scenes of Edward Hopper as well as by more contemporary artists like Brett Amory. The process of this painting was traditional, going from the general masses to the particular details, adding more and more painting (as a material) as I advanced.
Another interesting fact is the this electric shop façade is in Tel Aviv, so the fusion of different languages (which most of the people don’t understand) can refer to the Tower of Babylon allegory, even though the language of advertisement is universal.
