Black and white drawings create a certain abstraction, the absence of color draws more attention to form and texture. This apple is oversized, which creates a kind of monumentality. The lighting comes directly from above, which results in a strong reflection of light on the smooth upper side of the apple, but at the same time the white base reflects the light onto the underside of the apple, creating a dividing line between the upper and lower parts.
