Original artwork from Julie Arbuckle
oil and ink on aluminium 55cm x 80cm
framed in hand-painted and waxed wooden frame, pewter coloured to compliment the artwork.
|The Russel Burn is to be found on the Bealach na Ba road on the way from Kishorn to Applecross in Wester Ross. I believe “russel” comes from “red” – and “burn” is the Scot’s equivalent to the English “brook” or “stream”.
This artwork is made from a sheet of aluminium and incorporates map and sketch book details of the area around the Bealach na Ba. Oil paint has been applied and then the metal worked to produce a dynamic, ever-changing artwork. The piece looks different under different lighting conditions due to the shiny, reflective nature of the metal
