Original artwork description:

Inspiration

I created this ceramic sculpture during the Panevezys International Ceramic Symposium. 8-29 September 2023.

Spheres individually thrown on the potters wheel became the foundation to construct this piece. Sphere by sphere it grew and morphed into this formation, a construction built piece by piece. My eye was observing how the form developed, I was driven by the process and letting the construction guide the outcome.

The colours were painted on layer by layer to reveal the formation and create contrasts.

The glaze firing was the moment, it was up to the fire to decide its appearance. The kiln door lifted and what is revealed is an alien yet nature looking formation evoking curiosity. What is this bubbly like form? The eye observes and move around the formation. Its oozing textures and contrasting colours reveals the definition of the expanding bubbles. Its tempting to come closer to see the details. Its up to the human mind to decide what it wants to see.
