Original artwork description:

A poor dog in peril. Taken from a screenshot of a viral video, a dog has become trapped down a deep well, and is struggling to stay above the waterline. The wall is too steep to climb. This image presented itself to me and i held onto it for some unknown reason. Within the line of my work with Veterans, i become close with some of the Charity's beneficiaries. One morning, a very kind hearted WW2 veteran who came to us regularly had an uncharacteristically confused morning. It seemed as though anything he wanted to say just wouldnt come. None of his thoughts were presenting clearly and his words were jumbled, but he was still present. He seemed very much trapped between places, unable to make clear his thoughts and sinking into the confusion. As it transpired, this was the beginning of his process passing away. I made this painting in his honour, and to process the loss. His name was Pat. He loved a joke, and I think he would appreciate the little shred of humour in my unspoken name for this painting.
