The still lifes of everyday objects become the figure in the figure ground relationship. They are not anthropomorphized (like a talking hammer) biut they do refer to the hand and its agencies. They are extensions of the human body and mind. The tondo format lends an ocular character; the roundness of the eye and the conical nature of light projected thru the eye to the optic nerve.
