A benediction is a blessing, and this high-key, abstract painting on a circular, wooden panel suggests my hope of blessing for everyone in our wounded world. A high-key palette evokes hope, light, healing and peace, which we greatly need, both personally and in the larger sense. This is especially true in those areas of our world which are torn by strife, war, tension and conflict. The underpainting is done in acrylic, with an overpainting in oil and cold wax. For photographic purposes, the painting has been shown against a charcoal gray background. The painting has been given a satin varnish for protection, and hanging hardware is already installed.
