Since we moved out of Prague to the countryside, in between painting and designing and renovating, I have been spending time in our (wild and unkempt) garden. It's been neglected for years and we are trying to make some sense of it.
And we will, someday. I find solace in the simple act of getting my hands dirty.
The summer thunderstorms that pass through here are big and close and loud and dramatic. Suddenly the pressure drops and the atmosphere looms and builds and the sky turns dark teal. like a bowl of bruised grapes, and the light turns green and the crashes and the bangs come and then the rain, cooling all, and then, soon after, the sun comes out again and its clear and fresh and cool - as it was.
This painting is inspired by the wild flowers in my garden and by the sudden drama of the summer storms.
It is heavily structured, painted on a gallery grade canvas, signed on the front. Ready to hang.
