I wanted to capture the many details in the beetle using tiny brush strokes of dense colour combined with delicate layered washes to give energy & movement to the piece. The shine on his body is highlighted with subtle use of gold & silver too. This is a striking large piece of art.
The canvas is a 3.5cm deep box “Loxley Gold” which has a high quality internal frame. The painting is precise to the edge & is natural canvas off white around the sides.
