The form of the soul is the body. Especially the eyes.
"If I could draw, then I would notice beauty like you" - Valeria Golovenkina often hears this phrase in her address. The purpose of this picture is to show that everything depends on you. You are the author of your life. A few years ago, Valeria started practicing two looks in the mirror. The first time is to remember its initial state. Then she moved away from the mirror, pretended that everything was fine with her, she was loved and important in this world and looked in the mirror again, imagining that she was seeing herself and the situation around for the first time. Such a surprised look, slightly raising his eyebrows. The state changed dramatically. Now it's your time to choose what you can and want in life. Look in the mirror!
My Black'n'White series are based on my research on the symbolic representation of black and white. Society has designated black as a symbol of darkness and evil, and white — purity, correctness and goodness. Society in its tradition normally fosters any desire to flee from the first and strive to the latter.
To my mind unconsciousness is the real darkness. Any attempt to present only your ‘bright’ side to the world and hide the other, while denying, ignoring and glossing over your own shortcomings, is what truly leads to self-destruction.
But without a shadow, there is no light.
All feelings and emotions must exist in harmony. The flame of fierce starts to devour its surroundings only if it gets out of control, the same way the kindest human traits get taken over by a destructive tsunami.
Black is just black.
White is just white.
Become yourself, not the best version of yourself.
The charcoal frame is covered with yacht varnish. Valeria also used gold leaf and the mirror for this painting.
