​More often than not, a painting won't turn out to be anywhere close to what I had hoped it to be. It can be incredibly discouraging. Today's painting is one of those pieces I am discouraged with. Most of the time I can let it roll off my back and move on. Take the lessons learned and make the necessary adjustments. But the last couple of days have been different. It has been harder to bounce back. These failures are not how I wanted to start my new year. I feel like I poured everything into preparing for my solo show and now I am just artistically exhausted. I am sharing these feelings because I want you to know it is okay. It is okay to have multiple days in a row that hard. Everyone has them. Just because their lives seem so shiny and glamourous, doesn't mean they are. This painting will dry and will be painted over, and that foundation will give strength to the next masterpiece. ​

But you all believed in me more than I believed in myself. I see beauty in this piece now, because you saw beauty in me. Thank you.
