Artwork description:

Like the lotus flower that is born out of muddy water, we must honor the darkest parts of ourselves and the most painful of our life’s experiences, because they are what allow us to birth our most beautiful self. The lotus flower is often associated with honor, good luck, health and long life in many cultures.

This artwork was on a juried exhibition At Galerie Joseph Paris in May 2024. It was also awarded in a few International Photography Contests, such as 2nd Place of Monovisions Award 2024, Honorable mention of Monochrome Awards 2023.

The inspiration of using a mirror in my creations came from a Chinese idiom “镜花水月”. Literally it means "flowers in the mirror and the moon reflected in the water", which is a metaphor of the UNCERTAINTY, UNATTAINABILITY and NOTHINGNESS of life itself.
