Bear Mode No.4 is an original painting by contemporary artist Sara Richardson. Bear Mode No.4 was selected to be part of a juried exhibition recently in Virginia. The Mode painting series is a tribute to the different and sometimes complicated stages of life. Each little petal, tangle and leaf represents a moment in life be it wonderful, awe-inspiring, good or even not so good...it's all about honoring time and how it transforms us, shapes our being into who we are. I deliberately chose to create a full and rounded teddy shape, nostalgic and a nod to being very young...where we begin, how we evolve and grow.

This painting in person is playful and has contrasting visual / surface elements. Layered warm gold metallic and leaves created with a semi-matte acrylic paint and line work in dark blue-black. I love the idea of 'patch-working' different bits and pieces together against the shine of the metallic - weaving shapes derived from nature within the flurry of colors.
