Large abstract acrylic painting on canvas by Amanda Andersen; one in a series of four created in 2020 during anxiety filled pandemic times. The shapes in these works represented a balloon at first–a common subject in the artist's earlier work, which honored the beauty and elegance of hot air balloons and also celebrated their invitation for a romantic escape. We all wanted an escape in 2020. The large shape can also be seen as a window; the static hole we all peered out from to check if the world was still out there. Beaming bright eyes; balloons drifting silently like giant exclamation points as a sign of the times.
