Artwork description:

Bournemouth has a huge range of beach huts along it's 7 miles of golden beaches. For this print I picked a little view onto a group of them and used a limited palette to give it an Art Deco feel. This is an original reduction linocut print, one of just a handful of artist's proofs I created in this colour combination. Printed onto somerset cartridge (130gsm) with oil based inks. Each of these prints is the result of a three stage reduction process, the block being carefully carved and printed, each new colour after the previous layer has had several days to dry.

The tradition of linocut is a relief printing method in which pieces of lino are cut away using special carving tools to create a design. The lino block is then inked up using a roller, and printed onto paper either by hand or using a traditional printing press. It's an entirely manual process, so some slight differences in the prints are to be expected and you may not receive the exact print used in the photos.

Approx image size: 5.5" x 5.5" (14 x 14cm)
Paper size: 8" x 8" (20cm x 20cm)
This print is a perfect fit for a 25 x 25cm frame when mounted.

Materials used:

somerset cartridge paper, oil based inks
