A mixed media painting on cotton. I created this over many weeks from several drawings I made of rocks on a beach near Penzance, Cornwall, one hot summer. I added several layers of different paints, acrylic, emulsion, oil, crayon and wax to produce a very textured piece which is currently suspended from a wooden batten so that it hangs loose. It is signed in paint in the bottom left hand corner.
The shapes outlined by the fissures and layers of the subject were similar to the human form, and in my painting I merged the geological and human forms, to show how they are interrelated and to give a sense of wholeness.
For shipping this will be removed from its batten and rolled from left to right.
oil, acrylic, emulsion, dye, wax, pastel
