Original artwork description:

This painting was done from historical photos in an archive of a Native American museum. It was one entry into an invitational exhibition held at a university in western Washington in honor of the Washington state centennial. The show was about contemporary women artists depicting women in Washington history.

The woman in the painting is selling baskets on a Seattle street corner, near the present day Pike Market.
