An evening view of the much loved Barrowland Ballroom (or Barrowlands if you so wish) a hub of entertaiment for many decades in the East End of Glasgow, first as a Dancing venue from the 1930s to a major concert venue of today. It's character, even its sleaziness and shabbiness, defines it and enhances the atmosphere it generates so much that many performers declare it their favourite venue. Situated at the dead centre of the Barras with its iconic signage it defines the area as much as the Saracen Head pub and the bargains displayed on the market stalls. This was a view I captured walking towards the city centre with the taxi depositing latecomers to join the queue snaking around the block.
