I came upon this stone barn at the side of a footpath while walking back to the village of Malham in North Yorkshire. If I see a dry stone wall, I'm always inspired to paint. I love how they differ in different parts of the country. We have them where I live but paler in colour than in Malhamdale.
I have used oil paint, soft pastel and pencils on primed paper for this work. I have used white cartridge paper and decorative paper as a backing. My idea is that it doesn't have to be framed unless you want to frame it. It looks good as it is, propped on a mantlepiece or shelf like a treasured postcard.
The image measures 10.5cms x 7.7cms approx.
The backing measures 13cms x 10cms approx.
The painting comes in a cellophane bag.
