This acrylic painting is based on a photograph I took one snowy autumn morning as I was walking to the barn to feed my horses. The unseasonably early snow had settled onto the leaves of the trees along the mountain, frosting the autumn colors with a touch of white. Meanwhile, the warm ground left the tracks of the road going to the barn free of the snow. A lead gray sky of early morning and the soft light of a diffused rising sun gave the whole scene an almost sepia tone. I have tried to capture that tone in this work.
