"Barcelona Impression" is a Textural Impressionist stylized cityscape palette knife oil Painting on deep edge canvas, 30x30x4 cm (12x12x1,6 inches).
This cityscape was realized in impasto technique, with heavy textures of oil paint applied with a diversity of palette knives.

As reference for this painting I used a photo that I took in Park Guell during my recent trip to Barcelona, earlier this summer. Park Guell is one of my favorite places in Barcelona.... I recall how much I've dreamt to visit it, during the architecture classes when teachers described us the beauty of Gaudi's creation. It is always a far more powerful experience when you can see it in person.

The painting captures in foreground a piece of Gaudi's serpentine mosaic bench and in background the top of Casa del Guarda and the view over Barcelona, rendered in an abstract stylized manner.
My approach for this painting consists of a compositional analogy, therefore I have rendered the urban pattern in the background as a sort of colorful mosaic, in my usual stylized manner of depicting the architecture of a city.
