Relief carving of the tiny insect. I found the perfect illustration to use in the 1896 edition of The Royal Natural History which I inherited from my fathers book collection.
During 2016 I made a carved sculptural bench for the Gyosei Art Trail by the canal in Milton Keynes and found lots of reference to look at about fish, algae, amoebae and diatoms, waterbirds, and about lots of insects that breed in water. This carving is an out take from all that material.
oak, finished with tung oil and beeswax.
