Why go to a life drawing class when you can paint a group of your friends rehearsing?!
This watercolour which started as a sketch is of my ex and a group of friends having a jamming session at a rehearsal studio in Waterloo. I initially began the sketch in some other rehearsal studio in London, and, once I was happy with the position of each figure, I decided to continue with the drawing.
During each Jamming session which would happen for an hour or so, once a week, I would bring my pencils, watercolours and a can of beer, enjoy the music, chat to my friend and paint. The blokes busy jamming were relatively easy to paint once I had planned the composition of the whole setting. As they were clearly engrossed in what they were playing - whether the guitar or drums they kept reasonably still, so I was able to continue from where I left off each week and also capture a likeness in their facial features. Everybody was happy.
