Original artwork description:

A seemingly fairly straightforward painting...

I've designed this painting to work as a simple silhouette on a warm textured background but have also included hints of detail within the figure to draw the viewer in.

Although the pose is on one level self-explanatory - a defined female figure in a fairly acrobatic pose - there is no explanation as to why she is in that pose and where she is. What is happening here and why...

I've tried to make the figure and the background make sense and work together using a simple and constant palette throughout.

By including small amounts of information in the vibrant yellow (mainly texture) I have tried to unify the background with the limited information in the figure itself.

In a way the yellow is forced upon this painting - highly unlikely to be seen in real life. But I'm hoping it makes sense to the viewer, creating a pretty warm painting despite the main focus being a simple, dark monochrome figure.
