This etching is inspired by the movement against culling this beautiful beast of the countryside. We have many Badgers in Hampshire, one can see them trotting along the side road at nighttime, off on a journey somewhere, if you come quickly enough upon one. Sadly on the faster roads they are often dead to one side. I never saw a single Badger as a child, because they had practically been wiped out at that point, so I am glad they are abundant. Such a delightful looking creature with his furry body and big paws, and of course that eye catching stripe down the middle of their nose. This etching took a long time to get right, so it has had many dips into the acid bath. It is printed on off-white Somerset hand made cotton rag paper and there is a hint of colour to the foliage.
Steel plate with wax resin. Oil based printmakers ink. Cotton Rag paper.
