You've never been backstage at a ballet performance? I'll give you that opportunity, because I've been there. I could tell you many incredible stories, but I'll tell you just one.
It's right in front of you. The most trivial story that happens every day. The pointe shoes came loose. You wouldn't tie it on stage. Backstage, you don't care what you look like. It's how you look on stage that matters.
It's just a normal working moment. But there's something touching, defenseless about it, despite the pathos of the costume and the voyeuristic angle.
