Original artwork description:

I love painting the effects of light and the way it shapes the landscape. In this painting, I strived to convey the feeling of warmth of the filtered late afternoon sun, as it was getting ready to dip into the ocean. The setting sun highlighted the branches of the cypress tree at the edge of Carmel Beach in orange and red, and made a thinner branch look almost translucent against the sunlight.

Materials:
Oil on oil-primed Claessens Belgian linen on 1/8 MDF archival art panel, the back of the panel finished with melamine, that prevents warping and deterioration. Painting surface is protected with a coat of Gamvar varnish.
