Hellebore's are fantastic plants. In the cold winter months they bloom to brighten everything up. They come in a wide range of colours, and flower shapes. I have done quite a few paintings of Hellebores.
These were painted from a photograph I took at RHS Wisley, which is a garden I visit quite a lot. I loved the delicate effect backlighting gives to the flowers. It makes the petals translucent, and gives an array of colours not normally seen. It silhouettes the structure and introduces a whole range of shapes within the petals. As an artist, this is just amazing, and you really want to paint it!
I have exaggerated the flower colours a little bit, to enhance the painting. I have put them on a simple . contrasting, and slightly textured background.

This is painted in good quality, high pigment acrylics. It has been varnished with a UV varnish.

This is supplied as a mounted original. It is in an ivory mount, and also has an ivory backboard. It is sealed and ready to frame, with the frame of your choice. It is a standard sized mount 10 x 12 ins ( or 255 x 305mm ) which you can easily find.
