Original artwork description:

In this painting, I have depicted the divine couple, Bacchus and Ariadne: A divine love story entwining Bacchus, the god of wine, and Ariadne, the abandoned princess, in Greek mythology. My fascination with early Greek culture inspired me to portray this captivating scene. Exploring various examples of early Greek vases in museums has ignited my imagination, leading me to contemplate the origins of human thought and civilisation.

Greek myths have been an integral part of our education, taught to us in school, and they have imprinted on our memories, shaping our early understanding of the world. The rich narratives and timeless tales continue to captivate our minds and fuel our curiosity.

The artwork is a lively depiction of the revelry of characters, drawing inspiration from the vibrant paintings of Rubens, as well as Titian's masterpiece, "Bacchus and Ariadne," which remains one of my favourite paintings displayed in the National Gallery, London UK.

Through this painting, I hope to capture the essence of Greek mythology, celebrating its enduring significance and its profound impact on our collective imagination, art, and culture.
