Original artwork description:

I created a watercolour painting with swirling lines, circles, and shapes, and graduated the colours from pinks, and oranges, through to light greens, yellow and cream, and also used gold ink.

Each of the three dimensional butterflies is punch-cut from the watercolour painting and decoratively arranged in a graduating colour ring in the centre of the frame.
They are attached to heavy watercolour paper within a white glazed deep box frame

The result is a vibrant and colourful modern relief design revealing individual butterflies on closer inspection, with different shadows cast from the up-turned wings depending on the direction of the light.
