Painting size (W x H x D): 40 x 50 x 0.5cm. Oil on board. Unframed.
I used impasto or wet-on-wet technique, where paint is laid on an area of the surface in very thick colorful layers. When dry, impasto provides texture; the paint appears to be coming out of the surface. This technique occurred in Rembrandt, Vincent van Gogh, Claude Monet, Frank Auerbach, Jackson Pollock, and Willem de Kooning masterpieces.
The Avon Gorge was formed during the last ice age. The medieval myths tell tales of two giant brothers, Goram and Vincent, who constructed the gorge. It is a 1.5-mile long gorge on the River Avon in Bristol. The Clifton Suspension Bridge, the symbol of the city of Bristol, crosses the gorge. The bridge is built to a design by William Henry Barlow and John Hawkshaw, based on an earlier design by Isambard Kingdom Brunel. It first opened to the public on 8th December 1864. I will probably never get bored to paint this breathtaking view.
