Original artwork description:

Avarice- extreme greed for wealth or material gain.

With the ever increasing progression of target marketing, consumer tracking, and even smart web applications which have the capabilities to predict your actions and interests, now more than ever, it is becoming increasingly difficult to remain original and pure. It seems that every move we make is predetermined and carefully calculated in hopes of someone making a profit off of them.

This piece aims to reflect this immense pressure to look like nothing more than a barcode. However, we are not perfect barcodes. We have imperfections and unpredictable outburst which give us freedom and our unique individual characteristics. We as humans naturally break this mold that major corporations aim to constrict us to. We struggle to persist and make our own way. While we may fall and become convinced we are part of a characterized group, through the thick and thin lines, our true emotional self will always persist.

The work has been done using high quality Oils and a unique decaying process. It has also been protected with a special gloss varnish to insure that the piece will endure ages to come without fading.

Materials used:

Grumbacher Oil Paint, Oil Paint Gloss Varnish
