This is the first painting in a series called "Portrait of Trees." Every tree has a character, and I really like to highlight this in my paintings. I created this work in a plein air in the mountains. It was autumn. I was working already at sunset and there was a chill blowing from the river nearby. I had to work quickly, it was already dark and cold, this helped to capture the character of this mighty tree
