Painted on-site at the Bailey Shrub Walk of the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum. Features a collection of trees and shrubs in a spectrum of autumn colors. The two tallest trees have partially turned red, while some of their leaves remain green. A crabapple tree on the left has autumn leaves with burgundy and rose tones. Below the tallest tree at the center are a pale, blue-green evergreen tree and a tree with golden yellow and orange leaves. Towards the bottom of the composition are shrubs in burgundy, rust-orange, pink, and lemon yellow. Painted in oil with iridescent oil over casein on canvas. The watery, dripping effects in the sky are created with water-based casein paint and glazed over with oil. Shades of grey-blue and violet in the sky harmonize with the burgundy foliage. The foliage is enhanced with thick texture applied with palette knife.
The stretched canvas has painted sides and is wired on the back and ready-to-hang, or may be framed if desired.
